CONCERT BANDS
FLANAGAN WIND ORCHESTRA
The Flanagan Wind Orchestra, under the Direction of Michael A. Gabriel, is one of the most critically acclaimed ensembles in the state of Florida. The Flanagan Wind Orchestra has consistently received Superior Ratings at District and State Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessments, and has received praise for exceptionally moving performances of advanced contemporary music.

The ensemble has performed in some of the most high profile venues in the nation, including: a performance tour in Washington, D.C; a feature performance for the Florida Music Education Association Professional Development Conference; the National Adjudicator’s Invitational, the Walt Disney World Festival.

The Flanagan Wind Orchestra has been a formidable force in promoting new works for bands and wind ensembles. The ensemble has worked personally with composers including Wayne Oquin, David Maslanka, James Woodward, John Mackey, Frank Ticheli, Scott McAllister, Donald Grantham, Ryan George, Brian Hanson, Zachary Bush, Carl Holmquist, and Jose Ignacio Blesa Lull.

FLANAGAN WIND ENSEMBLE
Established in 2020 due to an increase in Band enrollment, the Flanagan Wind Ensemble is the intermediate training ensemble for instrumental students. In its inaugural appearance at 2022 District Concert MPA, the group earned Straight Superior ratings.

FLANAGAN SYMPHONIC BAND
Led by Kiethlyn Gilbert, the Flanagan Symphonic Band is the primary training ensemble for students new to the Flanagan Band program, including select Walter C. Young Middle School students enrolled in our Young Falcon Flyer program. The group participates in all program concerts throughout the year.

FLANAGAN BEGINNING BAND
Established in 2020 due to heightened interest in the Flanagan Band Department, the Flanagan Beginning Band is an ensemble open to all students at Flanagan High School, regardless of their level of experience with music. Led by Kiethlyn Gilbert, all students in the ensemble learn how to play an instrument and read music notation starting in August, and are trainied perform in 2 concerts throughout the school year.
